Find a job is one of the largest free job search sites in the UK. The service offers jobseekers and employers a simple and streamlined way to log in, post vacancies and search for jobs.

Over 147,000 employers already use the service and there are over 1.8m jobseekers registered on the site. You can create a free account now to post your vacancies online.

 

Transferable skills

When recruiting, always look at the applicant’s transferable skills and not just their work history. This is particularly important at the moment as many people will need to move from one sector to another. Make sure that your adverts don’t specify essential experience that’s too narrow or you may inadvertently exclude potentially good workers.  Some of the skills they’ve gained in previous employment can be useful in a range of occupations, for example customer service and IT skills tend to be useful in many roles.

 

Other ways to advertise your vacancies

There are of course a range of other ways to advertise your vacancies– including:

  • using other popular online job sites
  • your local Jobcentre Plus twitter service
  • sharing jobs on your own social media channels, such as LinkedIn
  • local newspaper advertising
  • using your existing networks and trade sector bodies to share vacancy information
  • using recruitment agencies
  • online job boards

Jobcentre Plus has over 60 geographically based twitter accounts through which you can advertise your vacancies.  Your local account can be found on GOV.UK. Requests for support can be made by sending a private message through Twitter to your local account using the direct message functionality within Twitter.

Many vacancies are shared by word of mouth, so your existing employees could also help in attracting new applicants.
